Barr Reportedly Working Closely With CIA To Review Russia Probe Origins

Attorney General Bill Barr has appointed a US attorney to investigate the origins of the Russian Federation investigation and to determine if the FBI's surveillance of the Trump campaign in 2016 was legal.

According to CNN, Barr is working with CIA Director Gina Haspel, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and ODNI Director Dan Coats on the interagency review. These concerns were in part fueled by the revelation that the FISA warrant obtained to surveil Trump campaign national-security adviser Carter Page was based on information provided in the unsubstantiated Steele dossier.

A source also told Fox News that Barr is working "collaboratively" on the investigation with FBI Director Chris Wray, CIA Director Gina Haspel, and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, and that Durham is also working directly with Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who is now reviewing allegations of misconduct in issuance of FISA warrants, and the role of FBI informants during the early stages of the investigation.

"There is a substantial investigation, which as I understand it, is nearing completion, being conducted by the Justice Department Inspector General", Clapper said. "I am so proud of our attorney general that he's looking into it".

Raquelle Cuellar, a resident in the apartment complex, told ABC 13 that the woman was often spotted walking her dog in the area. Officials have not yet confirmed whether the officer did in fact live near Turner or if complaints had been filed by Turner.

Horowitz is also reportedly investigating how the Federal Bureau of Investigation handled Christopher Steele, the British spy who created the now-infamous Steele dossier.

"Yes, I think spying did occur", Barr repeated, adding, "but the question is whether it was predicated, adequately predicated". "He's totally above politics", said Starr, noting that the Obama administration gave Durham some key assignments, including an investigation of Central Intelligence Agency detainees.

Durham was named by Barr several weeks ago, said the source, who confirmed it to Reuters anonymously because the Justice Department has not made a public announcement. "An informant working for US intelligence posed as a Cambridge University research assistant in September 2016 to try to probe George Papadopoulos, then a Trump foreign policy adviser, on the campaign's possible ties to Russian Federation, it emerged earlier this month". He has a history of conducting special investigations under administrations of both parties. The two Democratic senators from Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal, and Chris Murphy, called him a "fierce, fair prosecutor" who knows how to try tough cases.
