John Daly hits back at Tiger and his golf cart critics

Woods' response was only seven words long and made reference to one of his most famous major victories - the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines that he won in an 18-hole playoff over Rocco Mediate.

Sir Nick Faldo is also decidedly unhappy. "I think walking is an integral part of being a pro golfer". This marks only the sixth time in his career Woods has played two majors without at least one event between them, the first time since the 2013 British Open.

He is a two time major victor and has a lifetime exemption for the PGA Championship following his 1991 triumph at Crooked Stick. Daly was cleared to use a golf cart at Bethpage Black this week because of a chronic and degenerative problem in his right knee.

"We supply the golf cart for him along with a number of rules of what they can and can't do with that golf cart". He brought a case to the United States Supreme Court over the right to use a golf cart. "My knee is screwed". If my knee was broke, I would have had it fixed. It's painful as hell is all I can say.

"So, I'm saying Snead's record for sure, and quite possibly Jack's record if he can remain healthy and he seems to be doing well with his health".

Kerry Haigh, the championships director for the PGA of America, said Daly will not have access to all areas on the hilly course in the topless cart and much will depend on the golf course and the conditions, particularly if it rains.

Both men made comments interpreted by students, community members, and survivors of the shooting to be inappropriately political. He was in class when the gunmen entered the classroom and began shooting, his father Brad Bialy said in the wake of the attack.

Martin sided with Daly, saying, "It seems like the PGA of America handled this correctly", Martin, now the golf coach at the University of OR, said.

"In this case, John went through the process, sent in the information that we request of any and all players that this applies to". "The Black Course is an extremely hard course which we recommend only for highly skilled golfers".

Many golfers oppose the use of carts, believing that not having to walk the course will put the rest of the field at a competitive disadvantage.

The last man to use a buggy during a major was Casey Martin, in both the 1998 and 2012 US Opens.

John Daly will tee off alongside fellow American Rich Beem and Korea's Y.E. Yang at 5.54pm Irish time on Thursday.
