"You can't have everybody think that they can have a voice or an opinion about the final decision". OK, Tim Harris, you're the president of business, stay over there in business. And I said, "Listen, we gotta get a better coach.' I like him". I said, 'listen, you can't run a corporation like this'.

In an interview on ESPN's "First Take" Monday, Johnson described some of the behind the scenes activity occurring in LA, and it wasn't pretty. I'm not a guy who is like, oh man, he said this about and I worry about it.

Not only did Johnson say that he was referring to general manager Rob Pelinka when the franchise icon discussed being backstabbed, but also Johnson felt his power had been undercut by others in the Lakers hierarchy, including owner Jeanie Buss. "And we had three meetings".

Johnson has no regret regarding the way he left the organization.

I like him, he's great, former Laker, the whole thing.' So the first day: 'Let's think about it.' Second day: 'Okay, you can fire him.' Then the next day: 'Well, we should try to work it out.' "Just Rob, ' he said". "I said, 'Do I have the power to make decisions?' Because that was important to take the job as well". What happened was I wasn't having fun coming to work anymore - especially when I've got to work beside you knowing you want my position. Luke's a great guy, great guy. I said, when I looked up, I only really answer to Jeanie Buss.

"I told Dell Demps, let's do it in private", Johnson said.

"It's gonna happen. Just like me going back to my business and doing what I'm doing, LeBron's gonna win that 'chip", Johnson said. So my job is to get you ready for this position.' I was gonna help elevate him to the president's position. Walton was sacked and the team eventually hired former Pacers and Magic coach Frank Vogel to replace him.
