Matthijs de Ligt set to join Barcelona from Ajax in the summer

Barcelona have been busy in recent years trying to freshen up their centre backs with Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano leaving in recent years and Gerard Pique now 32.

Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam believes Matthijs de Ligt would be best off signing for a club like Liverpool or Barcelona.

Had it not been for Lucas Moura's late, late victor in the Champions League semi-final last week, Ajax would be on for a treble.

Barcelona would appear to be favourites to land the 19-year-old, who has stood out in an Ajax side that has won a domestic double and made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League before losing to Tottenham.

Whereas youngsters Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt might have generated more headlines, the form of former Southampton midfielder Dušan Tadić also caught the eye.

The defender is expected to leave Amsterdam after his impressive showings in this season's Champions League have seen him linked with several of the continent's top clubs.

The move against foreign telecoms comes just as the USA and China are ratcheting up tension in their ongoing trade war . The move makes it hard - if not impossible - for the firm to sell certain products, due to reliance on USA suppliers.

The same story goes on to add that boss Jurgen Klopp is happy with his four central defensive options in Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

The £65m-rated Netherlands global has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United after impressing in his side's run to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

De Ligt, of course, is possibly going to Barcelona.

Will Ajax lose any more players?

Juventus chiefs, although publicly saying they do not want to participate in an auction for the player, have regained interest for De Ligt, a deal which they already considered lost.
