Buccaneers release Gerald McCoy after 9 seasons

Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was the Bucs' first-round pick in the 2010 draft. While his numbers may have slipped a little a year ago, he still managed six sacks, 17 solo tackles and 21 quarterback hits in 14 games played.

The agreement comes with three years remaining on the contract McCoy signed with the Buccaneers in October of 2014.

The release of McCoy now frees up $13 million in cap space for the Buccaneers who had less than $2 million in flexibility prior. The Cleveland Browns look to be a potential suitor for the Oklahoma product.

Who will replace Vincent Kompany as Manchester City captain?
Liverpool will be competing for the trophy for the first time since 2006, when they, again, beat Chelsea 2-1 in Cardiff. His victor against Leicester in City's penultimate Premier League game kept them ahead of Liverpool in the title race.

The departure of McCoy also continues a very significant wave of changes to the Tampa Bay defense. "We wish Gerald, along with his wife, Ebony, and the entire McCoy family continued success and thank them for everything they have meant to our organization and community". John Dorsey has long said that he wants guys that can get after the quarterback, and McCoy is more than able to do so.

The Seattle Seahawks are never ones to be content with their roster, often making moves late into the summer if they think it will help them compete in the upcoming season. This is not old for a interior defensive player.

Adding McCoy would provide a massive boost to the Patriots' defense, but they'd likely need to make some adjustments in order to take on his salary, even though it'd surely be considerably less than what Tampa was paying him. His veteran presence and undeniable ability would make him an integral piece of the defensive puzzle.
