SL pacer Pradeep to miss Bangladesh game

The fast bowler was bowling to Kusal Perera and was looking to protect his face a straight shot hit back at him and injured himself in the process.

His team-mates immediately gathered around the bowler as they saw the severity of the blow.

An injury to Pradeep will be a serious blow to Sri Lanka's World Cup hopes, with the fast bowler having bowled the decisive spell in Sri Lanka's only victory of the tournament so far, against Afghanistan. In an act of self-defense, he raised his right hand and the ball collided with his finger.

Pradeep injured the little finger of his bowling arm while he was practicing in the nets for his team's upcoming game.

"Nuwan was given treatment at the hospital, while the doctors reset his dislocated finger and the cut on his finger was closed with stitches. He also suffered a cut on that finger and he was given antibiotics", said De Mel.

The official said Trudeau's government is looking at what the European Union did and drawing inspiration from their model. A year ago at the G7 meeting, Canada launched the Ocean Plastics Charter to reduce plastic use worldwide.

Losing Pradeep is a blow to Sri Lanka, who were indebted to the 32-year-old's skiddy pace as he took four wickets in his country's win over Afghanistan.

"Nuwan will be out of the Bangladesh game but hopefully after a week's rest he should be fit for the match against Australia", he said. "Pradeep will not take part in Sri Lanka's game against Bangladesh on Tuesday, as he will need a week's time to recover from the injury".

Pradeep has always been injury-prone and has often been ruled out for months on account of hamstring complaints.

Kasun Rajitha, who has been training with the team in the United Kingdom as a standby option, would likely replace Pradeep should he be forced to withdraw from the squad completely. Their next assignment will be against Bangladesh in Bristol on 11th June.
