Super Falcons of Nigeria Lost against Norway 2-0

1995 Women's World Cup winners Norway swept aside Nigeria in a comfortable 3-0 win with three goals in the first half.

Guro Reiten opened the scoring with a deflected shot in the 16th minute before Lisa-Marie Utland doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark with just her fifth touch of the game.

Nigeria will now move to Grenoble, where they take on Korea Republic on 12th June.

Osinachi Ohale turned a cross into her own net before half-time as Norway cruised to an opening win in Group A, leaving them level on three points with hosts France. Much like the other Group A match, the night before, the second half failed to match the first, the bite taken out of the action leaving everything feeling a little flat. Thembi Kgatiana's goal in the 25th minute had given the South Africans the lead until the 70th minute when Jennifer Hermoso made it 1-1 from the spot.

Detained Lebanese national Nizar Zakka leaves Iran for Beirut
Nizar Zakka , who has US residency, flew to Beirut with Lebanon's security chief Abbas Ibrahim, the official told Reuters. Lebanese media reported that Zakka had been pardoned at the request of Lebanon's President, Michel Aoun.

The goal came after the South Africans had weathered Spain's early dominance with desperate defending and then began to look threatening on the counter-attack.

Head Coach Thomas Dennerby introduced Chinaza Uchendu, Chidinma Okeke and Uchenna Kanu in the second half, and although there appeared to be some aspiration in the forwardline, the Falcons could not put their passes together with conviction to trouble the Norwegians.

China had nearly stunned the favourites against the run of play in the first half when Yang Li was sent through after a German error but her shot was cleared when she looked certain to score.

The last Norway's football play was against China.
